Located on the shores of the reservoir created by the damming of Sonoita Creek, the Patagonia Lake State Park is a unique recreational state park and wildlife preserve popular for its rich fishing and mild weather.

Established in 1975, the Patagonia Lake State Park is known across the state of Arizona as one of the best places to view Whitetail dear roaming around its natural habitat. Other than deer, wildlife viewers can also catch a glimpse of dozens of bird species including the canyon tonwhee, inca dove, vermillion flycatcher, black vulture, and hummingbirds.

Activities in the park mostly center on water activities in the lake including boating, fishing, swimming, and skiing. The park also features restrooms, showers, camp grounds, and picnic areas for families and groups.
