Although the Sanguinetti House was built in the 1870?s, two decades would pass before E.F. Sanguinetti, one of the state?s pioneer merchants, would purchase the property. As typical with Italian families, Sanguinetti had a large brood and he constantly made new additions to his home as the numbers of his loved ones grew. Soon, the Sanguinetti House was known for its beautiful and oasis-like Italian gardens as well as its exquisite aviaries.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the house is now a fully operational museum under the management of the Arizona Historical Society. Displays and exhibits at the museum feature the extensive local history in the lower regions of the Colorado River from the mid 16th century all the way to modern times.
