Slide Rock State Park is a state historical and recreational park in Sedona, Arizona. It is a historic apple orchard that was originally acquired by Frank l. Pendley under the 1910 homestead act.
Slide Rock State Park still uses the innovative irrigation system pioneered by Frank L. Pendley during his development of his homestead claim. The system enabled him to succeed in planting his first apple orchard and began a pattern of development in the canyon that has dominated the area ever since. As tourism development of the Oak Creek Canyon continued with the completion and subsequent pavement of the canyon road, Pendley followed suit and built cabins for area visitors and tourists use.
The park is named after Slide Rock, a slippery stretch of creek bottom visitors may use as a natural water slide.
