The first Riverfest that was held in 1978 was initially called ?The Summer Arts Festival?. It was during the time when the Junior League of Little Rock was able to invite the American Wind Symphony to perform in Murray Park located at the state?s capital. It was a day of great musical performances and activities related to the Wind Symphony?s presentation, that the League decided to conduct the same event the following year. They simply changed the name, the location and conceptualized a unique logo and program. This brought about the annual Memorial Day weekend Riverfest celebration that attracts no less than 250,000 visitors that flood the Arkansas River banks for 34 years. Here, locals and visitors can participate in the biggest summer food, arts and performing arts festival organized in 6 areas for kids and adults alike.
