Adelaide Zoo is one of the most sought field trip sites in Australia as it is the first and the only major metropolitan zoo operated by a non-profit organization. The eight-hectares wild environment is home to more than 1,800 animal species. The 300 of these animals are known to be exotic types of animals which can be seen only in very particular places in the world.

Adelaide Zoo offers not only animals but also different species of plants which are naturally part of the wildlife. Thus, it is divided into two major exhibitions which are the Botany and Zoology regions. Since the zoo is a wildlife advocate, its most precious animals and plants are the ones that are endangered and endemic in the world. These animals are native from different places such as India, South America and Australia.

The zoo is very accessible to the public since it is located Frome Road where the famous River Torrens runs. People can get there by riding their own vehicle, a bus, a bike, and even a boat. The boat ride, also known as the river cruise, is one of the famous modes of transportation to the zoo because from Elder Park, another tourist site, the so-called ?Popeye Boats? can bring park goers to the other side of the River Torrens which is the Adelaide Zoo.

People can also have picnics during lunch in picnic groves. There are also vending machines for some refreshments, cafe, souvenir shop, clinic, and other public amenities. There are packages in the zoo which includes tours and other recreational activities that are more practical to avail than purchasing single tickets. Though, if the park goers prefer single tickets, an adult will cost $31.50 while a child will cost $18.00. This ticket prices are definitely worth to pay as people are always amazed with true-to-life jungle experience in Adelaide Zoo.
