Also known as the Victorian Arts Centre, the Arts Centre is a haven for the performing art. It is a complex of concert halls and theatres that is mostly a venue for shows by The Australian Ballet, Opera Australia, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Melbourne Theatre Company. Opened completely in the mid-1980s, it has five halls and theatres available.

Aside from being a hub for the performing arts, the Arts Centre is also notable for its architecture. The massive steel spire and the wrap around base make the whole building a marvelous work of engineering. The whole exterior is also illuminated by fiber optic and neon tubing, as well as thousands of incandescent lamps.

Being an exceptional landmark, the Arts Centre is also a part of the Victorian Heritage Register.
