The Año Nuevo State Reserve is a state park and wildlife reserve in Pescadero, California. It is best known for its diverse offers and features, allowing several recreational activities to be held at the park.

Covering four thousand acres of area, the Año Nuevo State Reserve was established in 1963 in efforts to protect and preserve the ecological, scenic, biological, and cultural values of California’s central coastline. The site, which is also the historic area where the Spanish explorer Sebastian Vizcanio sighted in 1603 still bears the name that the explorer’s diarist and chaplain, Father Antonio de la Ascension, gave it: “Punta de Año Nuevo” or “New Year’s Point” being found in the first few days of the year.

The Año Nuevo State Reserve is also known for being home to various species of seals.
