The Auburn State Recreation Area is a state park and recreation site in Auburn, California. It is located in the heart of the Gold Country and covers more than 35,000 acres of area.

With its massive space, the Auburn State Recreation Area is a really great place to take some time out and have some outdoor fun. It offers a wide range of things to see and do, making it a pretty popular destination welcoming almost one million visitors yearly.

Once filled with numerous gold mines, the Auburn State Recreation Area is now a protected area designed for activities like trail running, swimming, boating, fishing, biking, camping, hiking, horseback riding, motorcycle riding, and gold panning. Whitewater recreation is also popular at the site and it has even hosted several endurance races and events in the past.
