The Benbow Lake State Recreation Area is a state park in Garberville, California. It is noted for being a popular destination among folks who are looking for some outdoor adventure.

Established as a state park in 1958, the Benbow Lake State Recreation Area has always been quite a destination even before then. It was the location of the Benbow Hotel, opened in 1926, aside from being a residential and farming location. The site is also home to a concrete dam that was built to provide power for the new developments in the area.

Named after the Benbow family who also took the initiative to save and preserve the natural scene in the location, the Benbow Lake State Recreation Area offers a wide range of things to see and do including camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, and boating.
