The Castaic Lake State Recreation Area is a protected and recreation area in Castaic, California. It is a reservoir of the State Water Project and is the largest of its recreational lakes.
The Castaic Lake State Recreation Area?s most popular attractions are the 425-footer Castaic Dam and its 29 miles of shoreline. Having two bodies of water, most people visit the site for water-oriented recreation like swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, and paddleboarding. Camping is also commonly done at the site as well as biking. The park also offers a massive picnic spot, with some group areas capable of holding up to 600 persons.
A very useful piece of advice, though: always make reservations in advance. A lot of people visit the site, so there will be some competition when it comes to camping and picnic spots.
