Like many SVRAs, the Clay Pit State Vehicular Recreation Area is a great place for off-road enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby. It is quite smaller than other parks of its sort, though, with only 220 acres or open riding areas. It is mostly described as an excellent spot for beginners, although, it is also ideal for enthusiasts and riders of all skill levels. The site is open for motorcycles, ATVs, and dune buggies.

The Clay Pit Stat Vehicular Recreation Area features a large shallow pit with low hills as its main attraction and riding area. The depression was a result of mining of clay for the construction of the Oroville Dam.
