The Doheny State Beach is a state park in Dana Point, California. The very first state beach of California, it offers a good amount of activities to its visitors.

Established in 1931, the Doheny State Beach became a part of the California Department of Parks and Recreation through the donation of Edward L. Doheny, a prominent oil tycoon. It was named in his honor after he gave the stat the initial 41 acres of the site (the other 21 was later acquired).

Popular for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, wildlife viewing, and surfing, the Doheny State Beach is frequented by many. This makes it quite crowded especially during the summer months as it gets filled with families who are trying to escape the heat.
