The Fort Ord Dunes State Park is a state park in Marina, California. The newest state park in the county of Monterey, this venue offers a good mix of history and fun.
Noted for being the site where the Ford Ord, a former US Army installation, once stood, the Ford Ord Dunes State Park has a pretty good amount of stories to tell. It traces its roots back to 1917 when it became an Army post which was mostly used as a maneuver area and field artillery target range. The site closed down in 1994 and was later acquired by the state and turned into a park.
Fort Ord Dunes State Park now offers a couple of outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and surfing. Camping is also allowed.
