The Leo Carrillo State Park is a state park and protected beach in Malibu, California. It is touted as one of the most popular state parks in Southern California, mostly for its location and great scenery.
Featuring 1.5 miles of beach, the Leo Carrillo State Park offers a wide array of water-oriented activities such as surfing, swimming, beachcombing, surf fishing, and windsurfing. Visitors can also explore the site?s tide pools, reefs, and coastal caves adding fun to the experience. Camping is also a very popular activity done at the site, although, there are mixed reviews and reception about the campground.
Named after the actor, conservationist, and preservationist Leo Carrillo who hails from an old California family and helped acquire the Hearst property, the Leo Carrillo State Park is also popular for being used as a movie location. It can be seen in the movies Inception, Grease, Gidget, The Karate Kid, The Craft, and Point Break.
