The MacKerricher State Park is a state park in Fort Bragg, California. It is known for a great number of things, making it quite a popular destination.
Originally a part of the Mendocino Indian Reserve, the MacKerricher State Park is actually the only unit in the park system with such a history. It was opened in 1952 and is now best known for bird and wildlife watching, hiking, camping, scuba diving, fishing, and surfing. It is an excellent spot for whale watching during the winter and spring seasons as well. Seals can be constantly seen at the park as they leave on the rocks off the park’s coast. The park is also home to almost the entire remaining population of the endangered Mendocino spineflower.
