The McConnell State Recreation Area is a state park and recreation area in Ballico, California. It is located out of Livingston.

Situated on the banks of the Merced River, the McConnell State Recreation Area is quite a popular spot for some outdoor fun especially during the summer seasons. It may be because of the fact that it has been around for decades already, so the word is already out about it. It is a favorite for its shallow waters, making it a great place for swimming, although there are also some deeper ends. Fishing, picnicking, hiking, and camping are also frequently enjoyed at the site.

If you’re after some quiet time, though, this may not exactly be the best place for you. Again, it is quite popular, which means a good number of people visit it regularly, so you may find a crowd upon getting there.
