Pala mission was built as an asistencia to Mission San Luis Rey. It is the only Calfornia mission to continuously serve the indigenous people of California. It is on a reservation and is quite well preverved and well worth the time to visit to grasp the massiveness of the SLR mission. Mission San Antonio de Pala is a beautiful asistencia and has a wonderful museum and girft shop as well.
