The Modoc County Historical Museum is situated in the city of Alturas and features various American Indian and an amazing display of ancient collection of guns. It was first started in 1967 with the private collection of Myrtle and Marc Belli featured initially. They are long time residents in the city that have been popular as collectors of historical artifacts since 1926.

The museum is open! It features all the items and others artifacts that were used in the lifestyles of three native American cultures like that of the Paiute, the Modoc and the Pit River. These exquisite collection of prehistoric artifacts is a must see!
