The Palomar Mountain State Park is a state park and recreation area in Palomar Mountain, California. It features the Palomar Mountain, which is one of the highest peaks in San Diego County at 6140 feet.

Noted for its spectacular views of the Pacific, the Palomar Mountain State Park is quite a well known park in the system. It welcomes about seventy thousand visitors per year and covers 1862 acres, filled mostly with coniferous forests. It is perfect for camping, wildlife viewing, hiking, fishing, and picnicking.

A Southern California area with a Sierra Nevada atmosphere, the Palomar Mountain State Park offers a great experience to its visitors. Sadly, it will only remain open until July 2012, as it is one of the state parks chosen to shut down in answer to the $11 million dollar budget reduction of the state.
