The Placerita Canyon State Park is a state park and historic area in Newhall, California. It preserves the site where the first documented discovery of gold in the state took place in 1842, which is now a California Historic Landmark.

Aside from its historical significance, the Placerita Canyon State Park also has a pretty diverse area. It has some portions where you can go hiking and waterfalls, which is also something most visitors come to see. The park also offers a pretty diverse plant life, especially since it is situated in a transition zone of several ecosystems.

Visitors of the Placerita Canyon State Park can enjoy hiking as well as exploring the Nature Center and the historic Walker Cabin. The park is also located near several movie ranches.
