The South Carlsbad State Beach is a state park and beach area in Carlsbad, California. As the name suggests, it is located south of the Carlsbad State Beach.

Known locally as the Pontos, the South Carlsbad State Beach is rather remote and has fewer amenities in comparison with the Carlsbad State Beach. Despite this, though, it still offers a very pretty beach popular for swimming, skin diving, fishing, sunbathing, and picnicking. Surfers also frequent the site, but the area with the best waves could be crowded with seasoned surfers, so beginners may shy away from it. In any case, there are still a couple of spots to surf, though, as the beach is pretty long. There’s also a campground inside the park.
