The William Randolph Hearst Memorial State Beach is a state park and beach in San Simeon, California. It is named after and in memory of William Randolph Hearst, a business magnate best known locally for being the builder and original owner of the nearby historic Hearst Castle.
Originally created as the Hearst Memorial County Park in 1953, the William Randolph Hearst Memorial State Beach has always offered recreational activities to the public. It was originally intended to serve as a complementary facility to the nearby Hearst San Simeon Historical Monument. Since its initial establishment, it has already offered camping facilities to the public. It became a state park in 1970, when the property was given to the state of California.
