The Montreal Botanical Gardens is a major attraction for tourists and residents alike, and encompasses 185 acres (748,668 square meters) of thematic gardens and greenhouses.

The greenhouse complex includes extensive collections of plants from around the world, and the large outdoor gardens each feature specific geographic and cultures themes.

The outdoor gardens are bare and covered with snow from about November until about April, but the greenhouses are open to visitors year round, hosting the annual Butterflies Go Free exhibit from February to April.

The Botanical Gardens contain 22,000 plant species and cultivars, 10 exhibition greenhouses, some thirty thematic gardens, and teams of researchers and activities staff, making the Montr?al Botanical Garden one of the world's largest and most spectacular botanical gardens.

No matter what the season, visitors to the Montr?al Botanical Garden are sure to be captivated by the colors and fragrances from around the world as they wander from the delightful Chinese Garden to the heart of the Sonoran desert, from the peaceful oasis of the Japanese Garden to the classically designed French garden or the woodlands of the Laurentians.
