The Rideau Canal consists a chain of beautiful lakes, rivers and canals that wind 202 km from Kingston, at the head of Lake Ontario, to Ottawa, Canada's capital city.
The Rideau Canal is a navigable channel for pleasure boaters full of natural and historic features that is maintained and operated by Parks Canada.
Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, the Rideau Canal passes through the scenic countryside, historic towns and quaint villages of Eastern Ontario and encompasses 47 locks, 24 lockstations, and two large watersheds: the Rideau and the Cataraqui.
