Constructed to process the gold bearing ore from mines, when the Agro Gold Mill was completed it was recognized to be the largest mill in the world. Processing over 100 million dollars worth of gold ore at the time it was $18.00 to $35.00 per ounce and now stands as a memorial to the hard rock miners of the time when gold ruled them all.

Today the Argo Gold Mill and Museum has its attraction name the Argotown where a very accommodating guide will teach you about the history of the tunnel, mine and the mill. You will also be able to see a live demonstration of crushing, rock drilling and milling. After all of the fun you will be brought up to the Double Eagle Gold Mine which will be the same level as the top of the mill. After seeing much of the mine you will also be guided through the mill while reading and observing the equipment, tools and relics that were used by the miners at the turf on the century.

A lot of people who leaves the museum after having fun and learning about what took place in the museum will surely able to recognize different gemstones found in Colorado. And some of them were lucky enough to bring home one of the precious stones.
