The Denver Museum of Nature and Science was established in 1900 at Denver City Park with a beautiful view of the city and the Rocky Mountains. The 500,000 square feet museum was the brainchild of Edwin Carter, a naturalist who lived his life studying about the local birds and animals of Colorado. Since it was established, the Denver Museum of Nature and Science has evolved from a log cabin that housed Mr. Carter?s collected works into one of the most extensive museum of nature and history in western America.
The museum is the best place for children and adults to learn about natural history outside the classroom through the various exhibits, activities, IMAX films and programs they offer. A member of the American Association of Museums, up to 178,000 students and educators visit the museum annually.
