The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site is a state park and historic site in Juliette, Georgia. It features and preserves the Jarrell Plantation, a former cotton plantation.
The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site traces its roots back to 1847 when it was developed by the Jarrell family. It was one of the half-million cotton farms in the South before the Civil War. It covered 660 acres by the 1860 and had 39 slaves. It survived the Civil War, a typhoid fever outbreak, the Emancipation, and the Reconstruction. It even grew in size after the war.
The Jarrell Plantation Historic Site became a state park in 1974 through the efforts of some Jarrell descendants. Today, folks can learn about the local history through visiting the site.
