The John Tanner State Park is a state park and recreation area in Carrollton, Georgia. The site is well known for its family friendly recreation opportunities.
Named after the local businessman John Tanner who ran the park from 1954 to 1971, the John Tanner State Park is popular for its water recreation. With its large sand swimming beach, visitors troop to the site to enjoy some fun in the waters, through boating, fishing, and swimming. Like other state parks, camping, picnicking, and horseshoeing are also easily enjoyed at the park. There are also some athletic fields inside the 138 acres of the park, as well as a miniature golf course.
Possibly the best thing about John Tanner State Park is its lodging facilities. It has a group lodge and some motel type units that can be rented overnight.
