The Laura S. Walker State Park is a state park and recreation area in Waycross, Georgia. It boasts of a lush natural setting, filled with various ecosystems and natural habitats.
Named after the well known naturalist, Laura S. Walker (who was also a writer, civic leader, and teacher), the Laura S. Walker State Park features the Okefenokee Swamp. This natural habitat is rich in strange and exotic creatures, including carnivorous plant species. It is home to alligators, pitcher plants, and great blue herons among other things.
Visitors of the Laura S. Walker State Park can enjoy 626 acres of recreation area which can be used for picnicking, camping, canoeing, boating, waterskiing, fishing, hiking, biking, and golfing just to name a few.
