The Magnolia Springs State Park is a state park and recreation area in Millen, Georgia. It is quite a unique site, rich with natural features and history.

Named after the series of crystal clear springs found at the site, the Magnolia Springs State Park was formerly known as the Camp Lawton back during the Civil War era. It is known as the “world’s largest prison” back at the time, but only little of the prison stockade remains today. A good amount of personal articles from soldiers has been unearthed by Georgia Southern University archaeology teams.

Aside from its history, the Magnolia Springs State Park is frequented today for its rich natural setting, wildlife, and series of recreational opportunities. Folks can enjoy picnicking, swimming, canoeing, boating, fishing, hiking, biking, and sightseeing at the park.
