The Petrified Wood Gas Station is claimed to be the oldest structure in the planet – way older than Wyoming's Dinosaur Bone Cabin. The building is originally made out of woods, but converted into stones for preservation.
Lamar's petrified wood building was originally a gas station in 1932. The building was made by W. G. Brown, a lumber dealer at that time. The petrified woods used in the walls and floors of the building are over 175 million years old.
The old gas station was converted into a tire shop in 1962. The building is now used as an office of Stagner Tire and a car dealership shop.
