Swetsville Zoo is unique from all other zoo since the animals here are not real ? they are made out of car parts, old machinery, and scarp metal by owner Bill Swets. He started his metal art in 1985 and from 43, his collections are as man as 160.

The entrance of the zoo is a yellow and white turrets of what appears to be a castle. There are also small imps made from bread-sized machines as well as cartoon train engines, dinosaurs, and futuristic space cars.

Though Bill's zoo is not as sophisticated as others, he said that his creations are equipped with his humor. For example, he owns a metal golfer assisted by a dinosaur caddy and hitchhiking creature holding a boombox to his ear and a prisoner's ball and chain to the ankle. Many of his creations possess political statements like a Monica Lewinsky reference.

Majority of the metal sculptures were made from 1985 to 1995. When Sandy, Bill's wife, become ill, he has to slow down his production. The zoo was oftentimes rebuilt due to destruction from fire or high flood. The castle facade at the zoo's entrance was rebuilt in 1998 after it was burnt a year ago. Other collections include alien dioramas, The Bungled Jungle exhibited in several rooms, and Autosaurus II with a 351 Ford machine in it.
