The Stepping Stones Museum for Children is an interactive children?s museum in the Central section of Norwalk, Connecticut. The museum was founded by Gigi Priebe in 200 and has received over two million visits within the first 10 years of operation. The museum aims to be the premier multidimensional educational resource that stimulates learning for children and adults alike.

The museum underwent a major expansion which added in an extra 22,000 square foot expansion. The building has been given an LEED Gold certification and features unique exhibits such as solar panels, wind turbines and a roof filled to the brim with vegetation.

The museum was designed for children ages 10 and above and features a wide range of interactive permanent exhibitions areas including the ?Energy Lab?, the broadcasting studio for children, and a multimedia gallery equipped with its own theatre and an 18 x 12 foot HD (high definition) screen.

Visitors especially kids can learn new things thanks to the other exhibits in the Stepping Stones Museum including ?In the Works? which teaches concepts such as gravity, energy and motion. In ?Healthyville? guests of all ages can learn more about the human body as well as finding out how they can live a healthier life.
Several seasonal outdoor exhibits are also can also be seen including ?Bubbles? and ?Toddler Terrain? which is an explorative exhibit for toddlers. Visitors can also view the 27 foot long kinetic sculpture called ?ColorCoaster? designed by George Rhoads and can be seen upon entering the lobby of the Stepping Stones Museum for Children.

Other venues nearby lie in Matthews Park including the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, Devon?s Place (a playground complete with mental, physical and sensory challenges) and Lockwood-Matthews Mansion.
The museum is open from Mondays through Sundays from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission rates are $14 for adults and children. The first Thursday of every month also lets in visitors free the whole day.
