The Delaware Art Museum is a private, not-for-profit arts organization that provides indoor and outdoor facilities in a variety of sizes for your next event. The museum offers comfortable space for a corporate meeting, a sophisticated venue to network with clients, or the perfect atmosphere to celebrate your company?s success. Arrangements can be made to open some or all of the galleries during your event, including the museum?s current major exhibition, depending on the interests of your group. The museum regularly features major traveling exhibitions, offering visitors an opportunity to become familiar with a wide variety of artists and artistic movements. Smaller exhibitions are also displayed in the museum, usually to complement larger shows or to bring select works to light.

Founded in 1912, the Delaware Art Museum holds a world-renowned collection of more than 12,000 works focusing on American art and illustration from the 19th to the 21st century as well as the British Pre-Raphaelite movement of the mid-19th century. The museum aims to connect people to art through its collections, exhibitions, and programs. Each year, the Delaware Art Museum adds new works of art to the permanent collection. Newly added pieces include full page illustration for chapter IX of Kidnapped by Louis John Rhead, Crooksbury by William Henry Millais and Dance of Death by Eleanor Antin. Various adult, youth and family programs and activities are offered by the museum.

Three different types of museum tours are available ? public tours, group tours, and school groups. Public tours are every weekend with a highlights tour focusing on the museum?s collection at 1:00 PM and a tour of a particular exhibit at 2:00 PM. Group tours welcome adult group visitors by offering discounted admission rates for groups of 20 or more and last approximately one hour. Guided tours of the museum?s permanent collection and temporary exhibitions are available for school groups. DelART Caf? provides a bright and airy view of the Copeland Sculpture Garden while enjoying light fare and gourmet coffee. Visitors can also visit the Museum Store and browse through a wide variety exclusive collection of art glass, books, jewelry, designer items, as well as exhibition catalogs and posters.
