The DiscoverSea Shipwreck Museum aims to recover and preserve the maritime heritage of the Delmarva Peninsula. It opened in July1995 as a result of years of research and hard work.

The Museum houses an ever-changing exhibit that continuously expands and diversifies as it acquires new artifacts that have just been recovered. It features one of the largest collection of shipwreck and recovered artifacts in the Mid-Atlantic and it contains shipwreck artifacts both from all over the region and the world. Visitors the Museum will be able to widen their knowledge about the history of piracy in the area as well. Its collection includes gold, Silver bar, coins, weapons, china, and other items that are used aboard by early sailing ships. Today, it already boasts of 10,000 artifacts that can be found in the museum at any given time. Eighty percent of its collection are rotated through exhibits around the world. It continues to aim for the expansion of its facility so that all of its collections can be exhibited at its current location all together.
