The Dutch House is a historic house museum and historic site in New Castle, Delaware. It features the Dutch House, which is a 17th century early Delaware settlers house.
Considered as the oldest house in the city of New Castle, the Dutch House is a candidate for being a National Historic Landmark. Its completion date is unsure, but most evidences point that it was built during the 1600s. The house is largely unchanged and is very much similar to the Hudson Valley houses.
Operated by the New Castle Historical Society, the Dutch House is a popular attraction in the city. It is open year round, although folks are advised to call in advance if they plan to visit during the months of April to mid-June. The museum gets a lot of student groups around this time, so if you don?t like being with crowds, check in advance whether there are school tours that might coincide with your visit.
