At first glance, no one would think that the picturesque beauty of Fox Point State Park actually hides a rather ?dirty? secret: it was once a hazardous waste site. This 171-acre state park along the Delaware River in Wilmington in New Castle County, Delaware was built atop a rehabilitated garbage dumpsite.

Fox Point?s wonderful location along the historic Delaware River gives its visitors unparalleled vistas of the surrounding countryside. The Philadelphia skyline can be seen up north and to the south is the iconic image of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. Maritime buffs will also get their knowledge fix as several ships and boats pass by the river?s shipping channel.

A welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the metro, the park is open to the public who can enjoy a myriad of outdoor activities such as biking, picnicking, and nature photography. Visitors can also use the playground and volleyball facilities provided in the park.
