Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory Rating: None

Delaware Attractions / Landmarks / Places > Greenville Email This Bookmark Print
The Mount Cuba Astronomical Observatory is one of the top attractions in the state, which is not surprising considering it is Delaware?s lone planetarium that?s open to the public. Visitors however can only take part in the observatory?s programs if they make reservations in advance. Children are also welcome as long as they?re in fifth grade or higher. One of the observatory?s programs include the Emil J. Volcheck Memorial Planetarium series, which was featured as part of the observatory?s celebration of the International Year of Astronomy in 2009. The series was held in honor of the 400th anniversary of the first set of telescopic observations made by Galileo Galilei. Other series and programs featured in the observatory include help sessions of the Science Olympiad Research for the Stars as well as the Astronomy SKYLAB Camp in the summer.
