The Mt. Cuba Center is a botanical garden and historical preserve in Hockessin, Delaware. It is mostly focused on the study of the Delaware Piedmont flora.
The brainchild of Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland, the Mt. Cuba Center traces its roots back to 1935. Its formal areas were designed initially by the well known Philadelphia landscape architect Thomas W. Sears and Marian C. Coffin later on. The naturalistic gardens were developed in the late 1960s to 3aly 1970s and were designed by Seth Kelsey.
The Mt. Cuba Center protects rural pastures, fields, local forests, and formal landscapes. They also offer magnificent woodland gardens, noted for its spectacular displays of wildflowers. Admission is arranged in advance for a fee.
