Delaware is certainly not the first place one would associate with the Jamaican music of reggae. But little do most reggae fans know that reggae legend Bob Marley spent some time in Wilmington, Delaware with his wife during the 1960s. This reason alone is why the city holds a yearly music festival dedicated to the man, his music and his message.

Dubbed the People?s Festival, this Reggae and World Beat music festival started in 1995. Since then, it has been drawing many of the world?s finest musicians from around the world. Instruments play the popular rasta groove as fans flock to Wilmington to make the summer heat even hotter. Songs popularized by Bob Marley and the Wailers fill the air, as do many original reggae music from various artists.
