You will get to experience the fun and excitement of treasure hunting in the waters of the Atlantic and step back in time to the era of expedition when Spain dominated the seas and the treasures of the New World were flowing into the hands of King Philip IV.
Through the efforts of treasure hunter Mel Fisher, the research of Dr. Eugene Lyons and the backing investor Melvin Joseph Sr. along with other who believed in the search over a thousand silver bars, silver coins and a number of bronze cannons were recovered as part of the treasure of the Atocha. All of these marvelous discoveries are displayed at the ?Treasures of the Sea Exhibit?.
The college library building houses over a total of $4,000,000 in artifacts including silver ingots and coins, bronze cannons, gold coins and chains, silver artifacts, deep green emeralds from South America. Different religious articles are also featured in the permanent displays in the museum. Visitors will get to experience a fun and educational treasure hunting with the help of their friendly costumed tour guides where you will see a video on treasure hunter Mel Fisher?s decades long journey to find all the marvelous treasures the museum holds.
