World Championship Punkin? Chunkin? is an annual pumpkin chunk contest held every first full week following Halloween in Sussex County in Delaware. The event is yearly governed by the World Championship Punkin? Chunkin? Association (WCPCA). Different teams are competing for both human-powered and machine-powered distance throws and target competition.

It started in 1986 in Lewes, Delaware. However, it was moved in Sussex County due to increasing space requirements, like distance of shots, number of teams, and number of spectators. Some of the divisions that teams compete include air cannon, centrifugal catapult, trebuchet, human powered and theatrical. Every division will compete strictly for distance, except for theatrical division that relies on a fan vote.

Also, the event features amusement rides, fireworks, food vendors, live concerts, pumpkin cooking contests, a chili cook-off challenge, and Miss Punkin? Chunkin? pageant for the entertainment of spectators and guests. For years, WCPCA has maintained the safety and orderliness of the event, making safety as one of their priority objective. The only documented fatality noted since was a duck hit by a pumpkin that was shot out by air cannon.
