The Zwaanendael Museum is where you can find the entire history of the county of Sussex. It is related to the stories related to the southeastern coast of Delaware. On the first part of the museum, particularly the first floor, is where an exhibit that is titled as ‘Lewes: The First Town in the First State’ can be found. It was opened again in 2006.

On its second floor, you can see a maritime archaeology exhibit that is called as ‘Rediscovery through Recovery: Roosevelt Inlet Shipwreck’. It was modeled right after the Hoorn town hall and it commemorates the foundation of the very first settlement of the Dutch in Delaware that happened in 1631. It also has a formal garden that was restored which includes a plant list that you can adapt to your local garden.
