The Billy Martin?s Tavern was established in 1933 and is considered as one of Washington DC?s most historic enterprises. For more than seventy years now, Billy Martin?s Tavern is still a place every visitor to Washington must visit. The tavern was first opened in 1933 by William G. Martin, a Georgetown University baseball player, together with his dad, William S. Martin. After retiring from baseball, William G. Martin decided to establish the tavern. Many years later, the management of the tavern was handed over to Billy, William G.?s son.

Even after four generations, the tavern still operates the same way that it did back then. According to William A. Martin, a.k.a ?Billy?, nothing has changed much, from the paneling and the bar top all the way to the configuration.

The tavern is so popular because every president of the United States have had stopped in the bar even once just to relax and enjoy.
