The Dumbarton Oaks Research Library is no ordinary archive site but is actually one of the finest historical landmarks in D.C. surprisingly enough, the place is also famous for its 10-acre-garden, in which visitors may enjoy quiet walks on its brick pathways or a moment or two of serene solitude while sitting on any of its wooden benches. Other popular areas of the gardens include the Beech Terrace, the Lovers? Lane Pool, and Melisande?s Allee.

A daily tour is offered every 1415H and visitors who would like to be a part of it should fall in line at the library?s front gates. The half-hour tour is especially popular during weekends but those who are coming in large groups are welcome to make advance reservations for private and more extensive tours.
