The National Museum of American History opened its doors to the public in January 1964 with the name Museum of History and Technology. It is a tourist attraction that is visited by some 4 million guests on a yearly basis.

The Museum has a lot to offer. There are museum display of artifacts and exhibits, educational but fun activities, public programs, collections of varied items, and facilities for researches. The museum offers collections and preservations of artifacts to number that reaches to more than 3 million pieces.

The museum encases exhibits that are of national treasure origins. Some treasured displays are a variety of sorts- the antique hat used by Abraham Lincoln, Original Star Spangled Banner, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz?s ruby slippers, and the angled trumpet of Dizzy Gillespie. The exhibits vary from gowns to locomotives.

The National Museum of National History has a restaurant which can hold up to 600 people. It has a large hall that can cater to large groups and a small unit where private parties can be held. A store selling all kinds of accessories is situated on the first floor.
