The President Lincoln?s Cottage is a historic park and national monument located in the grounds of the Armed Forces Retirement Home, formerly known as the Soldier?s Home. The President Lincoln?s Cottage is located in the Petworth and Park View area of Washington D.C. and was formerly known as the Anderson Cottage.

The home was a sanctuary for United States President Abraham Lincoln and his family during the summer season as well as for to avoid political pressure in downtown Washington. The home also became a refuge for President James Buchanan. The old Anderson House became the official Summer White House for two different presidents, Chester A. Arthur and Rutherford B. Hayes. The President Lincoln?s Cottage was also as a base of operation for the different US presidents, Lincoln included.

Included in the tours and the ticket purchase are the Signature Cottage Tour which is an innovative small group tour with a professional guide who uses ?historical voices? and employs different multimedia technology to tell different stories about the history of the home. Visitors can also check the different self-guided exploration guides. The museum tour also features a new life-sized sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and his horse.

Guests can also use the free picnic groups just behind the visitor education center together with the free parking on the site. The museum also helps foster education among the younger generation. The museum can help educate kids regarding the United States president?s personality, wartime decision making skills, political maneuvers and his relationships with friends and family.

The President Lincoln?s Cottage is open from every day from 9:30AM to 4:30PM with the guided tours starting at 10AM. The museum is open on Sundays at 10:30 am to 4:30pm.
