Rock Creek Park is very popular among the residents and tourists in Washington, DC. The park has fresh air and majestic trees that attracts many visitors. It's like an oasis in the middle of the busy city of DC. It is being administrated by National Park Service since 1933. Amenities in the park include a golf course, equestrian trails and sport venues like a tennis stadium. It also holds a nature center and planetarium. The park is popular spot for jogging, cycling, and inline skating.

Rock Creek Park also connects to Rock Creek Stream Valley Park and Rock Creek Regional Park in Maryland. The Rock Creek Historic District which included the two parks in Maryland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places on 1991. Rock Creek Park maintains cultural exhibits and historical buildings such as Pierce Mill, the Old Stone House, Battery Kemble, Fort Stevens, Fort Stevens and other Civil War fortifications that attracts many visitors as well. Most of these parks, buildings and monuments that Rock Creek maintains are listed and registered in the National Register of Historic Places.
