Established in 1960 by Albert Ernest Backus the unrivaled Florida Landscape painter and a group of local art enthusiasts, the A.E Backus Museum and Gallery stands on a 5,000 square foot public visual arts facility. The A.E Backus Museum and Gallery Features the country?s largest exhibits of authentic paintings by Albert Ernest Backus and houses distribution sales of Backus paintings and other Treasure Coast artists of merit.

Several additional exhibition wings are offered featuring changing exhibits of artwork by current Florida artists. The museum is located in the historical downtown Fort Pierce, 2 blocks from Backus? longtime home and away from his original studio?s location, the gallery is definitely a very great idea to be on visitor?s itinerary with its free parking free, it provides a very convenient access to other attractions nearby the gallery.

The museum greatly appreciates generous donations of artists to be put on our permanent collections. The museum also depends on generous patrons of arts to help maintain and widen the collection of the gallery. All donations given to the museum are tax deductable.
