The Alafia River State Park is a state park in Lithia, Florida. It is located 10 miles outside Tampa.

The Alafia River State Park was once a phosphorous strip mine, transformed into a reserve and a recreational site a few years after the site shut down. It is best known for having challenging bike trails, mostly from the pond depressions and abrupt hills that the mine was able to create in the area and the location?s natural terrain.

Activities available inside the Alafia River State Park include kayaking, fishing, biking, bird watching, camping, canoeing, boating, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, stargazing, picnicking and wildlife viewing. There are also playgrounds, pavilions, and interpretive sites and trails available. Take note that the site closes at 5 pm, despite its camping offers, so if you?ll be arriving later than that, notify the management earlier.
